I thoroughly recommend that you listen to this rather long interview with Daniel Pinchbeck, former journalist and now author. In this radio interview he discussed his book - '2012 return of quetzalcoatl'
Even if you have no interest in the book, Daniel raises some very interesting points relating to the hysteria surrounding the Mayans 2012 prophecy. My favourite part is close to the end of part 11, where the presenter asks Daniel what sort of even he believes will signify the change in conscienceness that Daniel for sees - he agrees that something like the US financial system crashing would be a good indication that this change in belief was underway. Bearing in mind that this was recorded in 2007 - it's pretty interesting to hear him predict the 'credit crunch' crash of our banks, that not even the financial analysts could predict.
